A BRIEF HISTORY

Dates

Throughout history and in different parts of the world, dates have been reckoned in a variety of ways. Those familiar with history will know of the Shrouded Age, the Age of Piety, the Age of Discovery, the Age of Breaking and numerous other named ages. However modern experts regard the Desuetude as the defining event of the modern era. Thus, most dates are recorded as the number of years since that event in the Age of Works. Dates prior to the Desuetude are recorded as the number of years before that event and called the Age of Faith.

Historical Timeline

Historians generally regard the following events as critical and age-defining. Dates on Rues prior to about 150 AF and everywhere in the world prior to about 1000 AF are approximate. The isolation of Rues and the disruption following the breaking of the Lattice makes exact dating impossible. The dates below are commonly used approximations.

111	A Diamondback skin is found in T’barris, leading to the elevation of King Y’vain Pelle.
110-120	Heroes of Old Fortune’s Bend appear throughout the world.
114	Pestilence wracks Konnigstrava.
113	Eviar Leonate is elected Crown Prince of Ophrailles.
112	Valarmore is destroyed by the Vargoth invasion.
108	​Valaq in Merrigor is abandoned to the forest. Lasaldi is named 7th city in its place.
81 AW	​Evenia Mercurio Pentratheron is crowned Empress of the Mecurian Empire on Rues.
62 AW	​Regent Berkeley Evers reveals Nira’s mark and takes his seat on the Compass Rose of Spyndlemere.
0 AW	The Desuetude Pronouncement. Large churches are disbanded in favor of goodworks based convocations.
133 AF	​Lattice travel is rediscovered.
175 AF	​The Great Rebalancing. Death, Magic and Purpose are brought into balance and protected from Corruption.
182 AF	​The Night of Guardian's Glory. The renegade Zenith Ravvin makes a bid for divinity and is prevented.
1400 AF	Garioch strikes Rues from the world, isolating it and breaking the Lattice.
1450 AF	​Fate is destroyed. Thinking mortals become purposed and the world is thrown into imbalance.
